February Talkic: What’s love got to do with it? Everything!
A life marked by love distinguishes a Jesus-person from everyone else in the room, on the call or at the party. Love is what distinguishes Christians from the rest of the world.
“By this [love] all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35. They will literally know we are Christians by our love! So what is love and how on earth will ever be able to love like Jesus?
The good news is that whatever God commands, God also supplies the resources to do. God has given us everything necessary for a life of godliness. That means He has given us sufficient love to love one another. Oh! And, His indwelling Spirit manifests first as love! (see Galatians 5:24-25)
So, in this month where the world is focused on love, let’s show them what real love looks like! Let’s show them Jesus.
When you read I Corinthians 13, how do you long to be loved today? (patience, kindness, etc)
How are we loved by God? (suggested passages: 1 John 4:7–12, Romans 8:35–39; Lamentations 3:22–24; Ephesians 2:4–7)
Who do you know that needs to know the love of God and how might you extend God’s love to them?
Use these words to spark the conversation on God’s love for you and how we can fulfill His command to love others.
